Directions

This training has been designed as a self-paced instructional unit. You may work through the curricula at your own pace and time. It is recommended that you work through the modules in succession for optimum effectiveness. The curricula are designed so that you can leave at any time. The instruction includes interactive exercises. Some of these are basic question/response using mouse selection. Others require more involvement on your part. The directions provided here will assist you in successful completion of the training.

Please note that the curricula provides links to many useful websites. At the time of the construction of this tutorial, all website links were active and available. It is quite possible at some point in time, that a website referred to in the tutorial may cease to exist or subsequently change its address and therefore, not be available to the user of this tutorial.

The following directions will guide you through this individualized training program.

Navigation

To enter a module from the home page:

Go to the menu that appears under the slide show of manufacturing and healthcare pictures.
Roll the mouse over the name of the curricula you wish to view. A submenu will appear.
Click on the module you wish to go to.

To switch to a module from within the curricula:

Click on the module number or the title of the module that appears when you roll the mouse over the module number.
- Note: It is not possible to switch to a module in the other sector-based curricula. (e.g., If you are viewing Module 1 in the Manufacturing curricula, you may switch to any of the other four modules in Manufacturing but not to any of the Healthcare modules directly. You must go back to the home page first.)

To move from section to section (lesson to lesson) within a module:

Click on the lesson number you wish to go to from the menu on the left hand side of the screen.

To move forward or backward within a section:

In Healthcare
- Click on the Next or Previous bar.
In Manufacturing
- Click on the right arrow to move forward and click on the left arrow to move backward.
- Section page numbers are provided near the bottom on the left hand side of the screen to indicate which page you are viewing in a section.

To access a websites link from within the curricula:

Click on the link to open up the website in a new browser window.

To access the home page from within the curricula:

In Healthcare
- Click on the home bar at the bottom of the page.
In Manufacturing
- Click on home button on the left hand side of the page under the section menu buttons.

To access the help page from within the curricula:

In Healthcare
- Click on the help bar at the bottom of the page.
In Manufacturing
- Click on help button on the left hand side of the page under the section menu buttons.

To return to the curricula from a visited website:

Use the close button to exit a website.
- The back button will not return you to the curricula, since the website you are visiting has opened up a new window.

Interactive Exercises

Drag and Drop Activities
Some activities ask you to drag an item and drop it elsewhere on the screen. Select the item to drag by depressing the mouse button. Keep the mouse button depressed while you drag the item to the appropriate location. Release the mouse button to “drop” the item. Make sure the item is fully within the area (box, border, etc.) provided in order for your response to be checked accurately. Use the “Reset” button to move the items back to their original location in order to try again. There is no need to reset when you have successfully completed the activity.

Text Input Activities
Several activities require text input similar to completing a fill-in-the-blank or essay type question. Just type your response into the space available and then click the “Check Your Answer” button for feedback.

Website Exploration
Many of the activities ask you to search for information on a websites and then provide your responses in the spaces provided. You can resize the curricula window and the website window in order to view both browser windows simultaneously or you can minimize one the windows. It is highly recommended that you bookmark the websites that you link to from the curricula for future reference in your work.
