Metropolitan Chicago Region - An Analysis of Public Workforce Development Resources

The Workforce Boards of Metropolitan Chicago in cooperation with Chicago Jobs Council have produced a report that presents a summary of public funds available for workforce development activities in the metropolitan Chicago region during fiscal year 2010.

The Metropolitan Chicago Region – An Analysis of Public Workforce Development Resources (.pdf) documents nearly $300 million in federal, state, and local funds available for workforce development activities – with 69% of funding being federal.

The purpose of preparing the report is to stimulate discussion among workforce development stakeholders on how available funds can be used more effectively and efficiently.

Illinois Congressional District Reports Released

The Workforce Boards have developed reports that provide key demographic and economic information for the Illinois Congressional Districts represented in the metropolitan Chicago Region.

Reinventing the Workforce System

The Illinois Workforce Partnership’s Reinventing the Workforce System paper (.pdf) provides recommendations for reinventing the nation’s workforce system that is supported with public funds.

The recommendations have been endorsed by member representatives of the Workforce Investment Boards and organizations that administer the Workforce Investment Act Title I program in Illinois’s 26 local workforce investment areas.

Recommendations provide a practical approach for improving the quality and effectiveness of employment and training service that builds on successes of the current system, addresses inefficiencies, and focuses on increasing direct services to customers.
